Newcomb Summer Session is a selective pre-college program in women’s literature and leadership. Students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school will get a preview of the college classroom while forming a community centered on exploring gender through literature.
Through a seminar-style learning experience and collaborative workshops, students will gain strategies for reading at the college level, taking on leadership roles in and beyond the classroom, closing the academic “confidence gap,” and strengthening college applications. Students will explore feminist texts that span 20th century modernism and 21st century multimedia. Without the pressure of grades, each student will receive a certificate of completion and letter of recommendation from the program’s director.
